BTCA-HEART is dedicated to educating the public about Bedlington Terriers, rescuing those in need and improving the lives of our current and future Bedlingtons.
Did you know that according to the Canine Health Foundation, 25% of all dogs, all breeds develop cancer at some point in their lives?
We are fortunate that Bedlington Terriers do not have any cancer that is prevalent in them. However, with the sobering fact that 25% of all dogs get cancer, we do see cancer cases in our breed. We do see cancer across most of the spectrum of possibilities.
Thank you to Lacie Thrall for compiling and maintaining this index of cancer resources.
Lacie has also compiling some case studies of cancers in our Bedlingtons to help other Bedlington owners who encounter cancer. If you have had a dog with cancer, please share your case with Lacie so others may benefit.
Lacie would like to record the type of cancer, age of the dog when cancer was discovered, treatment, outcome. She has several cases documented now and that document is available and downloadable below. She will maintain and update this listing as more case studies become available. Please be specific if you are willing to share your name or if you wish to remain anonymous. Lacie will honor your request.
